Gnucash-users is neither a chat nor a forum: It's a mailing list [1].

The etiquette is pretty simple:
* Always CC the list in your replies; on most mailers that means using "Reply All", though some also provide a "Reply List" function.

* When you have a new topic, don't use "Reply", make a new email and address it to the list.

* Say what you want to say clearly and concisely.

* Keep your comments germane to the overall subject of the mailing list. For Gnucash-Users, that means it should have something to do with using Gnucash.

* Be polite. Avoid posting anything you'll regret later. Once you write something in public on the net, it's public *forever*.

* Don't waste space or bandwidth with cute signatures or absurd disclaimers about the intended recipient.
