Unwieldy File Names in GnuCash 2.4.13

Thank you to Peter von Kaehne and Ian Konen for answering my previous question about setting up an electronic benefits transfer account.

Now, I wonder why GnuCash creates long, unwieldy compound file names, for instance:

NameOfBusiness.gnucash.20130531222807.gnucash.20130604214203.gnucash.20130604235529.gnucash.20130610231210.gnucash.20130612193734.gnucash

when you save a modified account file, rather than simply appending the date and time of the last save to the name of the business? Is there a way to get GnuCash to save files with simpler file names?
