Filter accounts in drop-down lists

I have the same problem, only the accounts that I would like to eliminate in
the drop-down menu are old accounts I used to use, such as for vehicles I no
longer own or closed bank accounts and credit cards, but would like to have
the information available if I want to see it. Can I make them a placeholder
without messing up the data in them?
