New INdian Rupee Symbol ??

Most likely this is a font/locale/encoding issue.  GnuCash pulls the
symbol from your locale environment, which is provided by your system.
So most likely gnucash isn't using a font that properly contains that
symbol.

Try changing your gnucash theme to one that has a font that includes the
Rupee symbol?
