Hi.
The Bayesian match info is stored in the account metadata. When you deleted the HOLD account you deleted the ofx metadata.

Don't import into a hold account. Import into the real account. And don't delete the account.

Enjoy.

Subject: OFX Bayesian import not working for me
Date: Sat, Oct 26, 2013 2:17 AM

Hey -- I switched from Quicken to GnuCash about a month ago. (It's
pretty cool, for the most part! Thanks!!) I am trying to import
several years of Visa transactions via OSF. Quite possibly I'm not
doing it right, but I haven't gotten ANY matches. (I'm using GC 2.4.13
on a Mac with OS 10.8.5)

I've downloaded the transactions in 4 batches to give "Mr. Bayes" a
chance to learn. Here's what I do:.

Download an OFX file from the bank.
Create in GC a "Liabilities:Hold Visa YYYY" account.
Import ("OFX") the downloaded file. (A "Use Bayes" preference box
somewhere was checked.)
Select the Hold Visa YYYY account for importing into.
ALL the transactions come up YELLOW: "New, UNBALANCED (need acct to xfer
$nnn into)" [NB: Almost ALL the Bank's MEMO fields say: "Loan Addon
Credit Card Classic Credit Purchase." (Real helpful!) But the
DESCRIPTIONS usually name the Vendors, with various kinds of extra info.]
Double clicked on the transactions 1-by-1, and assigned each to an
Expense account.
I completed the import: OK.
I prayed that these assignments were learned.
(After reviewing the transactions in the HOLD Visa 2007 account, I
deleted the HOLD Visa 2007 account, MOVING the transactions into my
primary VISA account.)
So far it seems okay.

I began the process ANEW with transactions from 2008.
Alas, all the imported transactions were still YELLOW: "New, UNBALANCED
...."

So ... 1) Am I right that recognized transactions should appear as such
in the "List of downloaded xactions" window? And that
instead of Yellow, some transactions (that were similar to those in the
last batch) should be green with the appropriate Expense account already
assigned?

2) What am I doing wrong? (Or does it take Mr. Bayes quite a few
examples to recognize a match, even if the DESCRIPTIONS are quite
similar and sometimes identical?)

THANKS!
