Perhaps you could use Calc2QIF (http://xl2qif.chez-alice.fr/calc2qif_en.php) and then import the QIF?

I have inherited a double entry set of accounts for my organization kept in
a single excel spreadsheet. Is there a way to import this data into Gnucash?
I tried using the import csv feature, but was unable to associate any of the
columns with from-account and to-account.
