Entry Date versus Transaction Date

Yes, the information is stored internally.

You can access it programatically via the xaccTransGetDateEntered series
of APIs.  (see src/engine/Transation.h for the C API, although this API
would also be part of the Guile bindings).

AFAIK no existing reports make use of this entry.
