Can't set account type on create/edit of account in GnuCash 2.6.3 on Fedora_Project 20-Heisenberg

I'm on Fedora 20, 64-bit. I tried to reproduce what you describe but I can't. When I 
create/edit an account, the account type list does get populated.

Perhaps you trace file [1] gives some hint to the cause. Can you post it here ?

Note that the trace file is recreated each time you start gnucash. So to have a useful 
trace file you should start gnucash, do what you want the trace file to capture, quit 
gnucash.
