I don't know the accounting rules of you country. And I never used the balance sheet in
GnuCash myself. Perhaps others can give you some advice here.
What I can say is that gnucash does have a feature to close the books at the end of the year.
However I have seen conversations in the past that this isn't really necessary. Again I'll have
to leave it to others to provide more insight.
