He is using Windows 8.1 per the original post.  As minmax stated, that
version of GnuCash for Windows fails to generate graphic reports, but it
is not very prone to crashing.  In any case, now that release 2.6.5 is
out, he should update and try again.  If there is still an issue, John
wants more details.
