I have used keystroke macros [1] to do similar tasks before.

basically you sort / filter your register so all the transactions you 
want to change are next to each.

start recording, change one, stop recording.  then run the keystroke 
macro n many times and watch it trundle through your transactions

[1] I use TinyTask from http://www.vtaskstudio.com/support.php which is 
free, I have no connection to them, others available, etc.
