Also, something I've recently started doing for accounts that have both
"cash" and "investment" components, make the top level account, like for you
"Gas", a "Placeholder" account. This keeps anyone from putting transactions
in the "Gas" account, so they can only make entries in the "Gas->Mom" or
"Gas->Dad", etc. accounts. If you already have stuff in the current "Gas"
account, just change the account they refer to in each transaction and they
will pop out of that account and now appear in the sub-account.
