Gnucash 2.6: problem opening file

Whenever a non ascii character (for example a french accented character) 
is contained in the full path name of a .gnucash file, Gnucash 2.6 
cannot open it and displays the message: "An error occured while reading 
file : xxxxx"

Just moving the file into a directory without any non ascii file fixes 
the problem. This looks like a regression because did not happen with 
version 2.4.13.
