Thanks - I'm getting used to Mission Control - I upgraded to Mavericks and
unfortunately can't revert to Lion. I miss Spaces.

For some reason, the other windows were appearing way off to the left if I
looked in Mission Control (not mirroring) BUT then I couldn't switch to the
other windows and if I turned mirroring on, they were nowhere to be found.
This is bizarre, but now they don't appear anywhere EXCEPT (thanks also to
Tommy for the link) by right-clicking on the dock icon -- see attached
screenshot.

Hilariously, I can now see how many things I've tried in gnucash by counting
the long list of windows by right-clicking on the dock icon. But I can't get
to any of them by clicking, swearing or making threatening motions with the
magic mouse.

The other user mentioned alt-space-m and arrows while hovering over the
gnucash icon - do they mean the dock icon? I don't see a gnucash icon
anywhere else. I feel like I need a magic wand instead of a magic mouse...
