64 bit

Just run the 32 bit version of GnuCash - you don't have to run a 64 bit
version of a program just because you have a 64 bit operating system
installed. I've been running 32 bit GnuCash quite happily for a few years
now on various 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Windows
8.1 Ultimate and Professional with no ill affects :-)

I'm unsure why you'd have issues installing it and don't recall ever being
prompted to setup a database bin location, mind you it was a few years ago
that I first installed it. I normally just run with the defaults when
installing/upgrading GnuCash. Are you trying to set it up to use a sql
database backend or just using the default compressed xml data file ?

On Windows 8 my GnuCash data file is located
in C:\Users\<username>\Gnucash\Data and GnuCash preferences etc are
installed in C:\Users\<username> with the main program being installed
in C:\Program Files (x86)\gnucash

Cheers Dave H.
