ledger and checking account

I set up an account, 'ledger' that I later discovered should probably 
have been the standard 'checking account'. Is there a way I can rename 
or transfer the contents of 'ledger' into 'checking account'? It turns 
out that my ledger parallels the checking account, and I don't want to 
create more accounts than necessary until I learn more about gnucash.
