Wow!
I know that computers have gotten incredibly more difficult to use over
the last several years, but this seems to take the cake. When I started
using GnuCash I was running Windows XP and I started with GnuCash 2.2
something if I recall. I set up online price retrieval early on and I
have had almost no problems as I migrated to Windows 7 and eventually to
GnuCash 2.4.13. I never ran into these problems that Richard is
having. Considering all the other things that have gotten more
difficult such as sending faxes (nearly impossible in Windows 7)
scanning documents, sending emails, now downloading stock prices is
added to the list. It looks like something went awry in the Perl
implementation evolution or elsewhere to create that quagmire.

I hope that you get it resolved soon and that the developers are able to
fix things to work correctly again.
