I have filed *Bug 739601*
<https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=739601> to request
restoration of the previous behavior.  I found that another bug resolved
in release 2.6.1 may have caused this change and that change may make it
difficult to fix this behavior.  We shall see whether the gods will look
favorably on this request.
