I double checked as you asked and it showing up as an asset (see image).

Let me try again...as I look at it again I mixed my terms. I am talking
about bank deposits not the GnuCash deposit column. Does that help? 

To help explain what we do: Our church pays for all the expenses associated
with the parsonage (we call it a manse) and I bill half of those expenses to
another church. What you call a transfer in your reply is actually a deposit
of a check received to pay for those expenses. The funds go into the general
fund as a reimbursement since general fund dollars were used to pay for the
expenses. I call it an asset because we are basically loaning the money to
the other church, so to me it is like a line of credit where we are the
bank. A loan is an asset to a bank, so this is an asset to our church.

I think the problem is that the reports are showing the income/expense
account deposits but not the asset account deposits. So for the example
deposit, I'd like it to show the four entries in the far right column of the
deposit image in one report, totaled by month. I had hoped that a cash flow
report would do that since as I recall (perhaps wrongly) in QuickBooks the
cashflow could show both inc/exp and balance sheet reports. However it
appears that for whatever reason this is not happening in GnuCash. And I may
have faulty recall.

Regardless, my needs are what they are. I can export and add the line, but
I'd rather create and save a report. :)
