Keyboard input ignored after switching registers

1. Open a credit card register from the Accounts tab, planning to enter details from a pile of credit card receipts.
2. Realise that the receipt you’re about to post is for a different credit card, so open its register, and post the receipt.
3. Click the tab for the first credit card, and try to type in the date for the next receipt in the pile.

At this point, alphanumeric keyboard input is apparently ignored, and it’s necessary to TAB out of the field and Shift-TAB back into it, or click the mouse in the date field.

I’m using 2.6.3 on an iMac with OS 10.9.4, and accept that I might have to put up with minor inconveniences such as this as a penance…
