Thanks, that's clear now.

And I'm eager myself to see a port of gnucash to mobile/tablet. It's undeniably a form factor 
that complements traditional computers and laptops and always within reach.

The code base as it is currently however is not portable to android at all so it's no use trying to 
port what we have now to that platform.

The current development cycle is focused on rewriting the core code. There are several reasons 
this was decided. For me personally the ability to port to other platforms is an important one 
and I keep this in mind with every strategic decision that is made.

Given the limited manpower and available time, I expect the current redesign will take several 
years though. And then the porting process hasn't started yet.

So for now an app that records charges and provides an export/import facility is all we can offer.

Of course the more people than can contribute to the redesign, the faster we can really talk of 
porting gnucash itself... All volunteers can present themselves on gnucash-devel or irc :)
