Deleting a Data File

I am sorry to have to ask an elementary question, but I am having difficulty finding my data file so I can delete it. I have gone to the FAQ section and noted the procedure there. The file that is identified when I do a "save as" is sterling_personal_banking.gnucash and the path is: program files\gnucash\bin. However, when I look in this location I do not see the file. When I set up the file I saved it as an xml data file.
