online banking with BB&T

This thread has been incredibly helpful.

BB&T worked fine with GnuCash until late last year. I called their tech
support and was able to determine that they patched a vulnerability around
the time it stopped working. I think it was Poodle, but don't remember for
sure as it's been some months and I didn't keep notes. I found this entry
by Googling "Using old SSL preparation code TLS Handshake Error" and that's
exactly what happens if I try to create a new connection and get the account
list. So basically, I was dead in the water. BB&T does not have an option
to download anything other than a csv, which for some reason could not be
imported into GnuCash. I eventually wrote a Java program to convert what
was downloaded from BB&T to a csv form that GnuCash would accept and that's
the process I use now.

I don't believe I have the technical abilities to do what Chris did. So I
guess my options are limited for someone who does not want to buy Quicken
which does work with BB&T.
