Change where my gnucash files are saved

Hi there
I mistakenly set the place for my gnucash files to be my desktop.  This has filled up in a crazy fashion and I need to be able to change where the files are saved.  I tried moving them to an alternative location but the gnucash said it couldn't find the files - even though I was opening it from the new location.
I've moved all the files back to my desktop and it will work again but this isn't sustainable.  Please help!
