Can you create ANY file on the dropbox and successfully access it from 
all of your devices?

IF you can do that (first step) then create a directory (file folder) on 
the drop box. You then create the your gnucash file from any of the 
devices and do a "save as" into that directory. You should now be able 
to open this from within gnucash on all of your devices. When the file 
is opened, the lock file will be created in this same directory (so all 
of your devices would see it if the lock is active).
