Not really.  I'm talking about income or expenses directly related to 
the holding of a specific security.  You could use it for cash balance 
interest, but that would be a bit odd since you don't normally 
attribute that to any specific security.  I'm talking about dividends, 
enterest, commissions, etc. that are related to a specific security. 
This is an alternative to the method described in the note in section 
9.2 of the GnuCash help doc.  Instead of the dummy split in the stock 
account as described there you can record the income or expense as 
described in my first message.
