Equivalently easy? No, because there’s no Mac equivalent to apt-get or yum. But you can certainly build the MySQL or Postgresql client and the corresponding libdbd-driver. Once that’s done the easiest way to get GnuCash to find it would be to edit the shell variable “GNC_DBD_PATH” in Gnucash.app/Contents/MacOS/Gnucash to point to the directory in which you installed it. Be sure to remove Gnucash.app/Contents/__CodeSignature or Finder may complain that it’s gotten corrupted.

Maybe. In general I’m allergic to MacPorts and Homebrew because they pollute the user’s environment. It wouldn’t hurt to try, though.
