how to restore backup

I find a convenient way is to look at the directory with the data files 
(the ones that end in *.gnucash), and double click on the most recent 
one.  Examine the data to see if that is the version you want.  Then use 
the "Save As" option to save it by the new name that you want to call 
your current working copy.
