foreign currency totals not included in Balance sheet totals

When you say 'Balance Sheet Tab' do you mean the Balance Sheet report? If so
check the report's options > commodities tab. Make sure 'Show Foreign
Currencies' is checked, and the Price Source is something sensible, e.g.
Nearest in time.
