No.  The A/R and A/P accounts are only for use with Invoices and Bills
generated through the Business menu.

You can use a regular Asset or Liability account if you want to keep
track of your invoices out of GnuCash.

Note that all the A/R and A/P reports will only work if you use the
business features.
