I'm running the latest Linux Mint with the getdeb repository. I get this:
> $ apt-cache policy gnucash
gnucash:
  Installed: 1:2.6.6-1~getdeb1
  Candidate: 1:2.6.6-1~getdeb1
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.6.6-1~getdeb1 0
        500 http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu/ trusty-getdeb/apps amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1:2.6.5-1~getdeb4 0
        500 http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu/ trusty-getdeb/apps Translation-en_PH
     1:2.6.1-2 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages

So yes, I'd say your getdeb repository isn't properly activated. You'd also need to do an apt-get update before it would work.
