assets over time report doesn't account for historical quotes

There are a number of reports that can track investments over time.  The
key to seeing the value in your currency is to set the report price source
to nearest in time and be sure that there is a history of prices in the
price editor section for your securities.

That is one of the reports that I use for that purpose.
