Tax Report

I want to export my tax information to a spreadsheet from GnuCash 2.6.4
Rev 79bdcf1 under Linux openSUSE 13.2 (latest available repository
version):

✔ Tax report has been set up successfully to list out transactions for
all the tax related accounts and subaccounts. Excellent thank you.

1. Trying to copy from the tax report to a spreadsheet results rows of
merged cells, each row merging one more column than the previous one.

        a. You can avoid this by copying and pasting first the account
title, then the column headings, then the rows of the subsection
of the report. Extremely tedious as it would have to be done for
        each (of 315) accounts.

2. Trying to copy from the tax report to a text program, e.g., Geany,
results in a vertical column of entries, e.g.,

                      4Expense:Discretionary Expense:Living:M&R:M&R
                House:HO
Date	Num	Description	Notes/Action:Memo	Transfer To/From
                Account(s)	Amount
                2014-Jul-24
                One stop Hardware
                Split Transaction
                3.28
                2014-Sep-19
                Stop and Shop
                Split Transaction
                1.22

3. Trying to copy from the tax report to a word processor, e.g.,
Libreoffice Writer results in a wrapped table even if the page format is
very wide, e.g., Legal

        a. Trying to copy from the word processor to the spreadsheet
transfers titles and the first column (dates) but nothing else.

4. File > Export as PDF results in a properly formatted report, but then
trying to copy from there to the spreadsheet results in 2. above.

5. File > Print Report > Save in folder (None) > (select folder) crashes
GnuCash.

=============

Googling shows that this was a problem before and "the problem is
solved" but it doesn't say how:

I want to export my tax data for various accounts/subaccounts to a
spreadsheet without a lot of fiddling, except the first time (like this)
to figure out how.

Several others ask the same question, but there is no answer:

Thanks in advance.
