Message: Cannot Find Lock

I think the message is worded a little differently, as it happens when
GnuCash left a lock in the file location because it did not close properly
and cancel the lock the last time it had the file open.

One possibility is that you are using a laptop and you let the battery run
down while GnuCash is running. If that is the case, there is a chance
that GnuCash did not make an automatic backup between the time you made
your last entry and the time your battery died, so you may lose some of
your work. It is not recommended to let that happen, but it usually is not
serious if you simply forgot to close the program when you left your
computer turned on.

Another possibility is that you use more than one computer to work on the
same file, and the other computer is currently using the file. Then there
can be serious conflicts, and the work done on one of the computers is very
likely to be lost. Then it is wise to open the file read-only or wait
until the other program has closed the file on the other computer.
