Probably. The web pages all seem to be down. As the owner of gmane says in
the first link:

I think the comments include several folks hoping to take over the service
in some fashion, but I can imagine that's both a huge responsibility and
quite complicated.

I just looked again at the slashdot comments and found a hopeful posting at
lwn.net
