GNU = Gnus Not Unix

There are several Open Source Projects that use this acronym as part of their 
names, including GnuCash and GnuPlot, and there is the GNU GENERAL PUBLIC 
LICENSE, which is one of the most commonly used (and probably oldest) software 
licenses used for Open Source software.
