Yes Chaz, many  people will.
Others are like me and will wait for their distro's maintainer to
prepare the package, and download from the repository for their distro.

How long that takes is "how long it takes".
Debian is usually slowest, but Ubuntu is now that place (see earlier
mail about 2.6.1 on Ubuntu, from David T.
