Started over on installing GNUCASH

Hello,
I try to in stall GNUCash using Synaptic, but I got to many dependency
issues.
even after using -f. although the number of dependency where reduced.
I then tried GETDEB. At the end of the instruction it says I should
get
a screen that says "install package" . That screen never showed.
Finally, I try using Update Manager.  Got the same problem as
Synaptic.
I think GETDEB is the answer but I can not get it to work.
Any pointers will be appreciated.
