Auto-split ledger on Mac

On my PC I had Auto-Split ledger set in Register Defaults and it would 
automatically open the splits when I clicked on a transaction.

I now have a Mac and set the Auto-Split ledger in defaults but the split 
doesn't automatically open when I click a transaction - to see the split 
I still have to click the Split icon.   Does the auto-split not work on 
a mac?   I am using version 2.6.10 on OS X El Capitan (v. 10.11.2)
