accessing GC file on a network folder

That seems to be complaining about the database format. Have you opened that file from that installation of gnucash before? You might try installing the sqlite drivers if the file is sqlite format? Something like that? 

Search the gnucash mailing list archives and you'll see some similar error messages. I don't think it's the fact that the file is residing on a file share that's the problem.
