Hi Kenny,

Gnucash will certainly do the basic bookkeeping you need to do. It would be
worth reading the Wikipedia entries on double entry bookkeeping
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-entry_bookkeeping_system) and basic
accountancy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accounting) before you get under
way and then the Gnucash Tutorial and Concepts guide
(https://www.gnucash.org/docs/v2.6/C/gnucash-guide.pdf). If you can get a
basic book on Financial Accounting from a local library, that would also be
beneficial.

If you have time, setup a dummy set of books to play with while working
through the Tutorial and Concepts guide. Gnucash can set up a basic set of
accounts for a business which you can then change to suit your particular
business File->New File will give you a dialog which you can use to setup
the accounts. You will need to enter information for your business in the
tabs in the NewBook Options. In the Choose Accounts to Create pane which
comes up later in the dialog choose the Business Accounts (tip hit the Clear
all button then select the Business Accounts. It will give you the major
groups of accounts you need for a business).

Hope this helps

David
