I think that you have a scheduled transaction that's raising an error, and thanks to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764871 the error message crashes GnuCash.  The bug is fixed and we'll be releasing 2.6.13 with the fix in a couple of weeks. Unless you can use another machine with a GnunCash from before 2.6.10 to disable scheduled transactions the only other recourse is to edit your file.
