It isn't easy and no-one is really working on those reports much, think of
them as static.

The good news is the output sorts easily in a spreadsheet.  Alternatively
if the problem is you have too many accounts showing in one of the sections
this is a good opportunity to take advantage of GnuCash's ability to
re-arrange or restructure your account hierarchy, not many accounting
packages make that easy.
