Anne,
To copy the GnuCash data file from one computer to the next, you do not need to export or import anything. Just copy the GnuCash data file from one computer to the next. Then, open the file on the new machine using File->Open.
Some people use a cloud location (DropBox, Google Drive, Miscrosoft OneDrive, etc.) to move and/or store their GnuCash data file, making this process easy.
