How do TURN OFF: double clicking transaction DURING RECONCILE goes to split ledger

As I said initially, I do NOT want to use a split ledger. EVER!

I don't use one when I enter transactions, and I do NOT want to use one 
when I'm reconciling accounts either.

Why does it force me to use one?
