Advanced Portfolio report shuts down with unknown error?

The answer to your question may vary depending on which version of GnuCash you are using and which operating system it is running in. In any case it probably is a real bug, but if you are using an older version of GnuCash it may already be solved.

Subject: Advanced Portfolio report shuts down with unknown error?
I am unable to get the Advanced Portfolio report to function correctly when
I select the option to report on closed positions (ie. with no shares ) .
It works just fine without this option. However if I want to get the
return on closed positions, the programs shuts down and simply says error
while running Report. Can someone help me to overcome this? or tell me
where I might have to look for a potential problem in my investment
accounts? Thank you.
