I think for normal use, it makes no difference at all what backend to
store it in. The database-vs-XML backend differences only come into
play for external tools that work with GnuCash data- including any you
may be writing yourself. And if for some reason you want to use a tool
that needs a specific format, it's easy to "save as" to that format-
though for MySQL or Postgres, you'll have to set up a database
instance to save into!
