​Cypress Semiconductor makes a program that's an Integrated Development
Environment called PSoC Creator.  On it's start page, it shows a list of
most recently opened projects.  If the user clicks on a project in the
list, and PSoC Creator can't open it, then a dialog pops up that says so,
and also asks the user if they'd like that item removed from the list.  I
think in the case of this program, the MRU Project list is being
kept/managed by the program, not by the OS.​
