Bug?

GnuCash makes multiple logs and backups as a safety precaution in case something happens to your main data file. This is good thing. It is not a bug.

If you prefer not to see them, then make a folder on your desktop (NOT in GnuCash but in finder on your desktop) and move all of the GnuCash files into it. Then when you open the GnuCash application, it will probably tell you it can't find the file. That's ok. Most browse to the main data file in the new folder you created on your desktop and open it. GnuCash will remember the new location when you exit the application, so you will only need to do that once.

As for there being multiple icons for the same file, I expect they are different revisions, not actually the same file. If you right click the files and do "get info" you will probably see that the file names are different, even though they use the same icon.

And while I can create a new folder on my desktop, I still have to manually move everything into it. I don’t know of any other program that manages its own files this way, that’s why I question whether this is a bug.
