GnuCash Column Width

With the recent discussion of column widths, I decided to try the 
feature of double-clicking the column headers on the Accounts tab. It 
doesn't work for me at all -- it's the same as single-clicking twice. 
(In fact, column sizing in general is messed up for me, but it's too 
unpredictable to really describe.)

Are there some other settings or dependencies that affect this feature? 
I'm using GnuCash 2.6.13 on Win 7 SP1.
